BWRX-300 is GE Hitachi's 300 MWe boiling water SMR with passive safety, natural circulation, and isolation condensers.
Simplified from ESBWR: no pumps/recirc, 250 MWt core, 152-month fuel cycle at 4.95% enrichment. Steel containment, 30-month build. Ontario Power Generation siting 2024; UK GDA Step 2 2023; targets 2029 deployment.
Why it matters now
BWRX-300 advances 2025 non-LWR SMR licensing via Canadian approval. Fits data center scale with LWR supply chain.
