Nuward is EDF and CEA's 300-400 MWe pressurized water SMR based on proven EPR technology.
The design features four loops, 170 bar pressure, and aims for 60-year life with enhanced safety. Finalized concept 2023 with consortium including Naval Group. Targets European deployment post-2030.
Why it matters now
Nuward supports EU SMR standardization amid 2025 regulatory harmonization. Data center and industrial demand drives French/Polish site selections.
